With the cleaning tech of the modern era taken up a notch, the P.C.R. was concepted initially by looking at the current state of 2009 robotics- a somewhat simple but promising place to be. Combined with cutting-edge materials and cleaning methods, the P.C.R. would be a formidable and efficient way to keep any home clean, from ceiling to floor.
Sketch ideation took many forms, and went through many cycles before settling on the 'hovering' vacuum look of the final. Legs, wheels, and all other manner of locomotion were drawn, but sometimes you can't beat the magic of hovering. That being said, the P.C.R. needed a mandible, and so the collapsable claw inspired by crab limbs that stretch and retract into a solid form, was added.
The final 'magazine insert' spread for the hypothetical P.C.R.'s debut. Utilizing UV-C light to help remove bacteria and viruses, a HEPA filter bag which captures 99.97% of all particles down to the size of 0.3 microns, and a 35 watt UV-C light unit (as used in hospital sterilization equipment) mounted on the base which that can eliminate 99.9% of potentially harmful things that standard vacuums (even pink cyclone based cleaners) are powerless against, the P.C.R. is a force to be reckoned with!
